Recovery from work

A good work day includes standing, sitting, moving and taking breaks. However, the course of the day is often more one-sided. Recovering from the load of the work is important in order for you to be able to cope at work. Different kinds of work burden in different ways, so one must also recover in different ways. The recovery from the work should already start during breaks and continue in the free time.

Tips for recovering from work:

  • Straighten the posture! At work, our posture begins to stoop over the course of the day. Improve your posture as often as possible.
  • Take breaks! It is good to fall into a habit of taking breaks already during your studies. Even the slightest rotation of the shoulders and shaking of the legs stimulate the blood circulation.
  • Move! The challenges can be the unergonomic or one-sided work postures, or sitting or standing for a long time in an poor position. In contrast, especially the back and shoulders need movement.

Take breaks

Breaks during the work help to stay fresh, and reduce the load on the body. The work days should include breaks that help to concentrate. During the breaks, the body and the mind get rest.

A break refreshes when you include some movement in it as well. A pause exercise by stretching the body takes only a few minutes.

Tips for taking breaks during work:

  • Straighten the posture.
  • Rotate your shoulders.
  • If you sit a lot, stand up regulargly. On the other hand, if you stand all day, sit during the breaks.
  • Stretch and activate your muscles.

Be physically active

Good physical condition and regular exercise allow the workday not to drain the batteries completely, but you will able to do nice things in your free time, too. Your physical condition also affects how the work load is experienced. A person in good condition is usually less stressed in the same job than a person in poor condition.

Because of neck or back pain, it is usually not worth lying down in the corner of the sofa. On the contrary, it’s important to get moving. Your body may signal that it needs movement to recover, as pain is often a result of the lack of movement.

Find a suitable way to exercise that will recover both the body and the mind from the stress of the work.
